About Networked Neighborhoods

NECO uses the concept of neighborhoods to geographically link groups of people doing similar activities in the Great Lakes Basin. The term neighbor is used broadly to define groups of people in neighboring watersheds or your actual neighborhood. Since all of our activities impact the Great Lakes Basin, NECO considers everyone in the Basin to be neighbors. The NECO system facilitates connections or networks between these neighborhoods to encourage the adoption of green practices and summarize their benefits within the Basin.

Belonging to a Networked Neighborhood

Neighborhoods are geographically defined in a variety of ways and sizes. If you have added a practice to the NECO website you will by default belong to a large neighborhood whose boundaries are defined by the 8 digit watershed that your practice falls within. The neighborhood will be titled the name of that 8 digit watershed. You can keep track of all the activities happening in all the neighborhoods for which you belong.

If you have not added a practice to the NECO website and would like to belong to a neighborhood, you can add your zip code in your profile and NECO will automatically add you into the appropriate neighborhoods. To add your zip code go to the "Account" menu, then add your zipcode under the profile tab.
